An Interesting Day at Work..

Ahh.. My feet are sighing in relief. Finally they get to rest after standing on them for 8 hours. I can slowly feel them again. I just came back from work.. For those of you who doesn't know i'm working as a promoter for pringles potato chips in Taka Cold Storage on my Sundays in June. 8 bucks per hour. I finally decided to stop slacking and get out there to earn some pocket money. Haha. Not that I'm lazy and don't want a job.. It's just that I can't seem to get one!!

This promoter job is easy money la.. Just have to let customers try samples and convince them they have a chance to win a trip to london to play with the Pringles Dream Team( Roberto Carlos is one of the players wo) and get them to buy a can. The task of trying to get customers to buy becomes even easier if you know the taste preferences of the different ethnic groups. At the place where i work the demographics is mainly Japs and Philipinos. The later loves snacks i tell you.. their faces practically lights up when they come to the snacks section. Then they have a hearty good time discussing and choosing what snacks they want(usually a lot!) and putting them into their shopping carts. I'm amazed at the fun these philipino ladies can have over something so common and basics like choosing chips and chocolates!

Well i diverted. Wad i wanted to say was that once I knew what flavours each enthnic group likes(the Japs likes Shrimp and Peppers, the chinese locals like Original and Sour Cream N Onions, and the Philipinos prefer the stronger tasting ones like Tomato Salsa and Smokey BBQ)I simply offer them the flavour they most probably will take a liking to. And most of them will decide to buy. Hee..i'm good!

Then in the afternoon I saw an uncle carrying his son on one arm. The uncle had an enormous pot belly! It seems like his belly kinda of provided resting support for his son and the little boy looks like he's partially sitting on his dad's stomach! Trust me it was quite a funny sight.. it made me smile for a moment. :)

I know this sounds like I had a busy day at my job. I've lots of other things to tell but i'm not gonna write them down.. But the truth is, I did a lot of reflection today too while standing at my post. The thing with this job is that there is only one promoter at each station so if there is no customers at that hour then I'm pretty much left with me, myself and I. Anyway, I thought a lot and comtemplated a lot about possibilities today. And i'm still left with no answer. It's not that i'm going around in circles.. Maybe I just have to die to some hopes. What if when I can see hope with my heart but not with my eyes? Wad happens then?
