Recently I heard that my class senior from JC just passed away. I wouldn't know if not for lixiang.. My class was not close to my senior's class.. and I would guess they didn't know about it either.
Tho I did not really know the girl(lets call her D) well, it came as a shock when i received news of her death. It is just shocking to know that the living, breathing person whom i had talked to and laughed with is no longer in this world.
Tho I didn't attend her wake(if i had i'm sure the impact would have been much greater), it did make me feel the meaning of the sentence 'life is transient'. I have always been a person who had preferred to have a few good friends.. there is a saying that goes something like "Acquaintance of many, friends of none". I had always believed in that. Now, i think otherwise. U never know when your friends will depart from this world. In the busyness of life, there is always time to get to know pple better.. and to be of impact to them before it is too late.
D had committed suicide. Rumours has it that she had suffered from depression. She had always done superbly well in her studies.. a good life is cut out for her. Why then had she chosen this road for herself? It is a mystery that no one will know.
During her wake, her good friend was giving a speech. Hearing this from my friend who attended, this good friend of D said, " Sometimes I wish she wasn't so perfect. I wish I had been more observant to notice the crack that had appeared on this perfect vase.. a crack that wasn't big enough to let pple come in. " (Can't remember the exact words.. it was something along that line..)
Sometimes, we can be our worse critic in our strife for perfection. D was a christian. She had Jesus in her life. But that was not enough to stop her from taking her own life. My friend asked whether she would go to hell for committing suicide.. i didn't know how to answer him..
I hope D is with God now.. life is so full of uncertainty. Dun let the busyness of life deter u from cherishing ur friends and family now.. it is so important to let them know u love and care for them.

Mercy Me - Word of God Speak
Word of God speak
Would You pour down like rain
Washing my eyes to see
Your majesty
To be still and know
That You're in this place
Please let me stay and rest
In Your holiness
Word of God speak
I'm finding myself in the midst of You
Beyond the music, beyond the noise
All that I need is to be with You
And in the quiet hear Your voice
I'm finding myself at a loss for words
And the funny thing is it's okay
The last thing I need is to be heard
But to hear what You would say
I shared during cell last time that besides feeling God's presence.. the only way that I know God is with me is when He speaks. This song echoes how i feel at this moment in time...

Timeless, literally
Psyching myself up for the weeks to come.. there's so much to do.. everything is so tight. During missions night Pastor Mohan talked about resources.. that it doesn't matter how small or few the resources are.. as long as we entrust it into the hands of God, it will be sufficient. That really spoke to me... comitting to attending all the practices for the Easter event requires a huge show of faith. Every inch of me is tempted to hold on to the limited time and energy that i have.. just to cope with the major project deadlines, tests and assignments that are always due just before the exams, much to the frustration and annoyance of all. But somehow.. this time i feel that i should take part in Easter.. maybe its wad God has put into my heart.. so.. i'm just going to go along with it.. and ignore the sensible voice in my head that shouts for control.
Presenting to you, the Trinity Easter event for 2007!
Presenting to you, the Trinity Easter event for 2007!My dad was fetching me to school this morning in the car.. i looked out of the window and for the first time, appreciated the many trees that lined the roadside. Spaced at regular intervals, they provide shade from the sun and shelter from the rain. And suddenly i had this impression in my head.. that similarly, God puts people in our lives to help shelter us from the pressures of life. As we travel along the road of our lives, these people help and guide us.. and it is due to the contributions of these people that we grow.. and hopefully, we will one day become a tree to others and provide the same help that we had received.
Maybe u are travelling on ur road.. a road that no one else but you can travel on.. maybe u feel tired and alone.. but fear not, the next tree is in sight. We know because God has said he will never leave nor forsake us.. He will never give us something that is too much for us to handle..

Recess week, not
First day of recess week was spent in FAL doing my accounting project. My group is supposed to come up with a master budget for our assignment. Thank God for my projectmate, eunice who is really good at excel(her mom is a IT lecturer).. cos i simply CMI in IT... i managed to learn a couple of things or two from her.. like how to use short-cuts. Believe me.. so much work can be reduced by just using Ctrl+c and Ctrl+v.. cos excel can apply the saved formulas to the different cells.. plus, the program actually learns and modify itself... *shock* i din know a software can do that...so smart.. anw, we managed to finish slightly more than half of the assignment after like 8 hours.. so going back on fri to finish the rest.
Today, i'm trying to brainstorm an idea for TVC assignment.. we're required to prepare a storyboard and come up with an advertisement commercial(in video form) for a product.. must produce a 15 pg write-up in creative brief format somemore.. help.. no ideas are coming to my head.. i need inspiration soon..cos the deadline is next tues and that's like in 1 weeks' time.. and i need someone who knows how to edit videos.. rong i hope u're seeing this.. *sends SOS distress signal*
The above.. plus one 4 pg report of an interview for my GE, is just about sufficient to occupy the whole of recess week. Hai.. its not gonna be a break at all..
Well, at least there's something to look forward to. Next sunday is melvin and weisum's wedding! They are the first of my friends who are getting married.. haha. It's gonna be their special day.. i'm feeling excited for them. (:

Restless
The lunar new year has just passed.. really blessed this year. Received a big ang pow from my uncle cos he struck 4D.. both me and my sis gets a share..
That aside, 4 good days of rest has been more than enuff. In fact, it has made me restless.. how ironic. See, that's what happened to me when i've got too much time on my hands.. instead of doing what i'm supposed to do(like assignments for one), i think too much.
I look at the happenings around me... people, family situations, external family relations, circumstances... and I can't help but wonder. why can't things be different? And i think back to a point in time when i really wanna grow up.. so that i can change things.. instead of accepting things the way it is..
I've just got this nagging feeling that i'm missing a lot in life. There must be so many things that i've yet to experience, and things that i can learn and be really good at. Maybe it is time to look pass the restrictions..to follow my heart and do what i've always wanted to do.
oh ya.. i've recently fallen in love with deep purple. Bought a purple bag and a purple top.. and i almost wanted to buy a purple dress today but managed to practise restrain. think i better keep my ang pow $$ in the bank and bury my debit card somewhere where i can't see it.. hmmm..
Alright.. homework's calling out to me. I haven't done my tut which is due tmr.. pls pardon my rattlings.. just in a queer mood..

The mystery of chemistry
Just feel like penning down some thoughts going through my head.. and the topic of the day is: chemistry. Wad exactly is chemistry? Wikipedia defines chemistry as the science of matter at the atomic to molecular scale, dealing primarily with collections of atoms, such as gases, molecules, crystals ,and metals. Ok.. i'm just being lame.. I'm not a science student so obviously i'm not blogging abt the interaction between atoms and stuff like that. Instead, wad has stirred my interest is not so much chemistry in the scientific sense, but rather interpersonal chemistry.
In the fields of sociology, behavioral psychology, and evolutionary psychology, with specific reference to intimate relationships, romantic relationships, or friendships, interpersonal chemistry is a feeling of affiliation, bonding, or comfort, which is sometimes present in the first fifteen minutes of meeting someone new(source:wikipedia). Chemistry can persist for years in friendship or a sexual relationship, but as it pertains to first dates and meeting strangers, it refers to a rather immediate feeling of rapport, comfort and liking. Sexual interest may be present but is not required. It may also be used to define a strong sexual attraction, sometimes without the presence of the feelings of compatibility, comfort, rapport, etc.
Then there is good chemistry and bad chemistry. Good chemistry is thought to be associated with or the result of favorable human bondings and associations, whereas bad chemisty results in awkwardness and feelings of discomfort.
Chemistry would perhaps also contributes to the extent of camaraderie between friends and the feeling of closeness. Ever wondered why some friendships potentially gets deeper.. but some pple never get beyond surface talk? Well.. that's chemistry for u!
Each of us has our own chemical make-up. We are like walking bottles that contain our unique blend of chemical components within.. looking for other bottles to match and compliment what we have. Too bad there isn't any labels.. bottles with the matching components would have been much easier and clearer to spot..

Happy moments
Happy 21st bdae to me!
It has been 4 day since I turned 21…I know this post is a lil late..
Some thoughts of turning 21:
- I’m now officially an adult… I’m finally grown up!
- It’s now time to give back after receiving so much from my parents... Turning 21 comes with it the responsibility to take a more proactive role in seeing things in my family work out for the better, be it relationships, financial aspects, etc. And more importantly, salvation for my dad and sis!
An interesting fact: Some friends whom I had known for so long forgot my bdae, while some friends that I had made for less than 2 years remembered and were among the first to drop a happy bdae msg. My best fren from JC called to say happy bade from montreal! (:
Turning 21 has brought several things into perspective. One of the question I asked myself is.. out of this 21 years.. who are my real friends? Friends that I can trust.. friends who will stand by me in times of trial.. friends who will be there for me. Do I have this kind of friends? I thank God that the answer is yes..
Thinking back now.. I’m amazed by how things had changed.. God has slowly, but surely been working in my life. I’m glad that God has brought many people into my life to teach me things that can never be learnt by myself. Covenantal relationships are indeed a blessing from God.
On a final note…
Turning 21 is not about parties, expensive gifts, or fancy affairs. Gifts lose their novelty and memories fade, but true friendships last. Turning 21 is a celebration of independence, knowing that at the onset of adult life, you have friends and loved ones there by your side, those who will walk with you through the journey of life.

Seasons
The large magnitude of school work coupled with the unexpectedly increase in serving that had hit much like a silent tsunami ever since the start of 2007 had subsided.. the waves of anxiety and paranoia has slowly retreated.. leaving in its wake not a trail of death and destruction.. but rather, quiet, comtemplative relection.
I remember countless times of telling God it's too much too fast.. slow down.. it's too much for me to handle. Everytime i open my mouth to complain, God never fails to remind me of the story of how the people had grumbled against God as Moses lead them out into the desert. In the land of suffering and discomfort.. they had lost sight of God's promise for them. Without vison, the people perish..God has already given me a vision and a promise for 2007.. and the wonder of it all is, part of it is being fulfilled even right now.
The tangible works of God.. all in His perfect timing.
1) Entry into CM as singer
2) Invitation extended for L-cell
3) Stepped up as MEX i/c
4) Adopted an SB (one who complains that a good mummy will not bully her..)
Doors opened by God? I believe so..
I am reminded once again of God's perfect timing.. of how important it is to learn all that God intended for one to learn in that special season.. bcos once that season is past.. it's gone.. and it is not until one enters into the next season that one realises how God has actually been using the past season to prepare for this one.
The path to fulfilling one's destiny is not by participating in the rat race of life.. but by entering wholly into the timely seasons of God..

New Year Resolutions
I know its a bit late for new year resolutions.. haha.. but i shall pen them down anyway. Dun expect a long list though.. cos I believe resolutions are not made only to be broken. Being focused is the key..
1) Have more fufilling friendships
2) Overcome my shyness
3) Be more vocal and assertive
Simple enough? Easier said than done.. these are habits that can't be changed overnight.
The last and final one is from God. This came from God on the last day of 2006.. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. [Joshua 24:15] 2007 is a year of promise of salvation for my sis and dad.. and it will be a year of serving and growing in God. I'm looking forward to a brand new year ahead. YEAH! A fresh semester starts tmr! A new season brings along with it new challenges and conquests!! I'm ready.
------------------------------------------------------------------
God, grant me
The serenity to accept the things i cannot change
The courage to change the things i can
And wisdom to know the difference.

Mad rush
It was quite a mad rush for me yesterday. I was getting ready to go for betty's 21st bdae party at 6.15pm when an sms came reminding me of the meeting cum training for Creative Min at Trinity PL at 7.30pm. Apparently the meeting was off for the instrumental side but not so for singers. It was a lesson learnt in commitment when I had to make a choice between attending my good fren's bdae party and going for an a CM meeting. Stating down your commitment on paper is easy.. not so when it gets down to fultilling it! And as if having to make that choice is not bad enough, i didn't have the faintest idea of how to get myself to Oneplace! As time ticks by and i searched my room frantically for the past weekend's bulletin which contains the dirctions(to no avail).. that leaves me with the fastest method of calling the CM person to ask for directions. Hai. So much for making good first impressions. But i figured that being punctual for the first meeting is better than appearing dumb. So there u go.
Upon arriving at Oneplace, one look at the gigantic structure only served to amaze me with the abundant provision of God, leaving me with no clue as to how to get into the massive building still in the completion phase. With the help of a helpful Indian worker who kindly gave me the wrong direction(it could be that i misunderstood him with his heavily ah-neh accented english), I went up 4 storeys(our meeting place, the chapel is at the 4th floor), went through wooden doors that thankfully did not shut permanently behind me, and walk about in circles like a blind mouse in a maze b4 meeting again another construction worker who gave me the correct directions this time.
So finally i arrived at the chapel and got to meet my fellow singers for the first time. Scanning the faces hopefully, I can't believe that I din know anyone there! To make things worse, i can say with confidence that I am one of the youngest there. Most of the people there are adults, some are married(met 4 couples)and one was even from the tai-tai cell(who ever heard of that!). Everyone seem to know everyone there. i have to admit i felt kinda left out. Sulih and yixin.. where are u... *sob*
It's things like this that makes me question whether i had made a wrong decision to serve in creative min. Maybe i should have been contented to stick to hosting. Yet, God has opened the doors for me to step in. Knowing this is where God wants me to be reminds me of why i want to go into CM in the first place. To serve God, and to express the my love for God through worship. Even though things may not be as i expect or want it to be, I know i have a great deal to learn, and fixing my eyes on God will surely serve me well. For the joy of the Lord is my strength. Neh 8:10
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the meeting ended i had to rushed to betty's place to wish her happy bdae. Thankfully betty wasn't mad at me for arriving so late.. haha. I felt quite bad that i couldn't attend the whole of her party, esp since it is her 21st.
To my dear betty: Glad to see u so happy on ur 21st. Hope everything works well for you in the coming year. Congrats on entering adulthood! haha.. stay sweet and true and never lose ur youthfulness!
To the rest of the RG squashers, cya on our next gathering when ness and bx returns! (:

ADM tour at night
ADM is so beautiful at night after the rain.. i wish i could have taken a photo of it. The glasses are all shining with a wet sheen and under the moonlight, the whole school looks like a reflection in an oasis.
So after dinner leslie and i got a private tour of ADM, courtesy of rongs. So into the school we went, where we visited the dark room with the cool rotating entrance, the light room, the animation room, the huge audi, the film room, and lots of other rooms which i can't really remember the names. Oh we went to see rong's sleeping quarters duing sem time. Pretty neat. It's a huge room with sparse furnishing besides a white board(with funny drawings done by stressed out AMD students) and about a dozen computers in the room. According to rongs she and her classmates share computers and have developed shift schedules to each computer. And thus, they use the comps 24 hours day and night for their projects! ADM students really have more work then other NTU students.. they dun have a choice of not doing and passing up their tutorials. Dun even talk abt poning!
Rongs was such a good guide.. she made our tour of ADM absolutely delightful. It was not just going from room to rooms and seeing wad was in it.. it was hearing her recounting the stories of what her classmates did in those rooms that made the school come to life. I came away having a different impression and a newfound respect for ADM students. I've always thought ADM pple are a bit on the extreme and crazy side.. but hey they actually make cool posters and make art pieces that not everybody has the ability create. Plus, they have a whole different school life where everyone works hard together and and play together and eat and sleep together. The rooms still had the leftover evidence of their lifestyle. While looking at the whiteboard drawings, I can see how admist heaviness of their workload, the stress is channeled into creative energy that results in drawings and expressions that one won't get else where. Yeap, ADM students are a totally different breed of people. Haha.

Haha.
Random thots
Random thot 1: Have you ever had the feeling of indignance when someone judge you based on someone else's opinion, without even knowing you? Now i know how dea feels when she blogged abt that last time..
Random thot 2: Have you ever seen a person's appearance and made a judgement on how he/she is like even b4 saying anything? Well.. if that applies then one can't judge God cos no one can see His face..

360degrees turn
Dec hols is here! (ok i know this is a bit late.. ahaa) I haven't been doing anything much besides reading books, evolving into a crouch potato, going out having fun...etc. Besically enjoying myself and wasting my time away not doing useful stuff. =P Been wanting to blog for sometime now.. but my sister monopolizes the internet connection at home(since she's paying for it) and since i've yet to get a router, I hardly get to come online.
But yes, what a great time of slacking b4 the hustle-and-bustle of school starts again! The freedom to choose what one wants to do is shiok! Ha ha. Nevertheless, relaxation and rejeuvenation aside, what is so great about holidays is also the time to reflect and re-orient myself b4 school starts and work steals away the time to do everything else.
I must say I've finally come to some satistfactory decision on an issue that I've been unable to settled on for a long time. Now that I've decided on my stand, i feel really liberated. In life, each decision involves a trade-off. In some you go all the way, and in some you compromise. And as nic always tells me, each man to his own conscience. As long as my conscience is clear before God.. that's good enough for me.
Any one seen Josh Groban's album Awakening on tv? Josh Groban's stong vocals resonating the lyrics of his main song 'You Are Loved' immediately captured my attention.. it's quite beautifully composed i must say. Simple words, yet it encompasses a deep, bountiful meaning.
Leaving you with some thoughts to ponder on.. so many of us go through our christian walk comparing ourselves with non-christians. Questions like: How is it like to live a life that is void of the restrictions? How does it feel to live each day just to please ourselves? When others label us as goody-two-shoes or 'oh-so-holy' is worth the price to pay? Does God see what I am going through for Him? what if what if what if...
But what if God sees...the things you are going through.. the words of retort that you bite back in the face of unfair comments.. the yearnings to be like your other friends and just to go with the flow.. or the thoughts that say i will choose not to do this because i choose to honour my God.
What if.. God sees the the silent tears you shed in your heart at times when you think no one understands.. What if.. God sees the heart that shouts out no matter the opposition, it want to live out a life that's worthy of a child of God? What if.. God sees the progress you make to spiritual maturity and is mightily pleased?
What if.. we know with a certainty that God knows and he understands and he loves us with an everlasting love? When that mindset is embedded deep in our consciousness, that when when we realise that everything we do.. every sacrifice we make.. it will all be worth it.
Josh Groban - You Are Loved
Don’t give up
It’s just the weight of the world
When your heart’s heavy, I
I will lift it for you
Don’t give up
Because you want to be heard
If silence keeps you, I
I will break it for you
Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don’t give up
Because you are loved
Don’t give up
It’s just the hurt
That you hide
When you’re lost inside, I
I’ll be there to find you
Don’t give up
Because you want to burn bright
If darkness blinds you I
I will shine to guide you
Everybody wants to be understood
Well I can hear you
Everybody wants to be loved
Don’t give up
Because you are loved
You are loved
My fav verse from the bible: Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perserverence the race marked out for us. [Hebrews 12:1]

When God speaks
Cell last fri at clemmie's place was indeed an edifying time. 2 powerful testimony's were shared.. rong's one was particularly relevant, albeit more in depth than the usual sharing. I'm really happy to see that sharing has now gone beneath the surface talk to a deeper level.. it makes cell(and God) a lot more real. It shows how God is present througout our struggles, and brings His word into application. And amidst the testimonies, God is exalted.
After cell ended some of us stayed back to fellowship.. I learnt two short piano pieces from Jon and clemmie. haha. its amazing how i derive such fun from playing with black and white keys. =P
Worship was significantly longer than usual during service this weekend. It was a lovely time of soaking in God's presence.. however, as greeter I had to keep an eye on people that were coming in so as to pass them the bulletines. Thus, my mind wasn't focused totally on God. Nevertheless,God spoke to me, even whilst i'm serving. I was surprised, cos this rarely happens. You know, people always ask, how do you hear God?? but the thing is, when God speaks, you can't help but hear. God's voice is a really like a gong, it resounds in the spirit. After which, a deep sense of conviction follws. My 2nd surprise came at the words God said to me. He said: 'Let not praise to Me be empty words'. Since I was not doing wad God said, I know he was refering to people in the service. God is not pleased with people who pay him lip service. He wants people to mean what they say, to praise and worship Him from their hearts.
And lo and behold, after a while, Pastor Peter went up and said the same thing. He said, to exalt Jesus, it must first start from the heart. Worship must be from the heart. 3rd surprise. It was exactly what God spoke to me a few moments ago.
It was refreshing to see how God operates with the same spirit. It is even more interesting to feel what the spirit feels.. I actually felt God's displeasure this time. God is a truthful God. He does not want fake worshippers, but people who worship in spirt and in truth.

From me to You
When time runs out, and there are few words to day, let the language of thanks giving be on my lips.
Thank You for bringing me through the past gruelling week. I was drained emotionally and physically.
Thank You that i will only be missing 2 lects and 3 tuts during my whole IMF affair for 2 weeks.
Thank You that I recovered from my flu in time for work! Now only left with an occasional cough.
Thank You for giving me 4 days off from work. Means i can better manage my sch work and have enough time to rest.
Thank You for moving me from Orchard Hotel to Shang Ri La. I believe this is where you want me to be cos i committed it into Your hands.
Thank You for Your favor that I can mix well with my fellow IDOs(Information Desk Officers)even though i am considered a new comer to the group.
Thank You this opportunity, for the exposure that allows me to learn new things, more practical lessons to come!
Thank You for the many friendships that are formed. I hope i will be a good testimony for you.
Thank You for the lift I got from my in-charge from Shang Ri La back to school today. Got to know him batter along the way too.
Thank You for blessing me with good project mates and who do projects in the spirit of teamwork and who are understanding towards my tight schedule.
Thank You for prompting me to share the gospel to a fellow project mate. I was the 3rd person to invite him to church that day. And if you are reading this, I am pretty certain you have the call of God upon your life my fren. :)
Thank You that I met my ex secondary school fren and extended another invite the same day. All these happened after praying for contagious faith in cell...Praise God.
Thank You for friends who always stand by me. I really appreciate your acts of encouragement and reminding me that i have friends who care.
Thank You for the 2 brothers in Christ that I got to know better, one who touched me by offering to pray for me without me even expecting you to. It came at a time when i needed it most.
Thank You for You abundance grace. It overflows in my life.
